Server Hardware - Sr Linux Systems Engineer

Position Overview

Akkodis is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer (Server Hardware) with an Irvine, CA-based client to join their team. Salary: $250K-$350K/yr. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Location: Irvine, CA -Hybrid (Onsite Tuesday–Thursday; Remote optional Monday & Friday). We are looking for an engineer who thrives working hands-on at the OS and hardware level in large-scale environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, optimize, and troubleshoot Linux servers at scale.
• Work directly with hardware (CPU, memory, server performance tuning).
• Manage large clustered environments.
• Automate system management with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or CFEngine.
• Write and maintain Bash and Python scripts to streamline operations.
• Partner with storage engineers to ensure seamless OS-storage integration.

Required Qualifications

• Strong Linux OS administration background.
• Deep understanding of hardware fundamentals.
• Experience with large-scale Linux environments (thousands of machines).
• Hands-on with automation/configuration tools.
• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of Linux experience in enterprise or HPC-like environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required.
• Proven track record of long-term ownership of systems.
