Job Description

Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking an experienced Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Grand Rapids, Michigan, US.

This critical role involves the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the company's robust network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and network protocols, coupled with hands-on experience in complex network environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network systems, supporting a wide range of telecommunications services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture documentation, diagrams, and configurations.
  • Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades and changes, adhering to change management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure projects.
  • Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions to enhance network capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain network automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for network incident response.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for network design and security.
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning for network infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree: in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years: of experience in network engineering and infrastructure management.
  • Strong expertise: in routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, STP).
  • Hands-on experience: with enterprise-level firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
  • Proficiency: in network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) and packet analysis.
  • Experience: with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications: such as CCIE, CCNP, or JNCIE are highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving: analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication: and documentation abilities.
  • Ability: to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience: in telecommunications network environments is advantageous.
