We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer Intern/Co-op to join our team. This role is ideal for current students in their 3rd or 4th year seeking hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing within a dynamic and collaborative aerospace organization.

Working with experienced professionals in the Operations Department the ideal candidate will be responsible for working in a safe manner, adhering to all company safety policies, be a champion for safety, contributes to the success of manufacturing operations by working with Operations Leadership, Manufacturing Engineers and Operators in the design, development, and update of manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions, routers, travelers, and projects in methodologies to achieve business objectives.

We are seeking someone with a passion for manufacturing efficiencies. This internship is on-site and can be part-time (20+hours/ week) or full-time, with the schedule determined based on availability and course load.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform time studies and analysis of assembly operations to streamline and eliminate bottlenecks
  • Transition key processes from batch assembly to one piece flow
  • Optimize fixture and tooling storage and presentation
  • Develop Workstation standards and POU inventory and tool staging
  • Work with QE's on root cause analysis and develop poke yoke's to eliminate quality issues
  • Work with supervisors to implement a sustainable productivity tracking process
  • Create presentations to report on current projects to the Leadership team
  • Performs other duties as required

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

  • Ability to perform and interpret statistical analyses

Required Experience

  • Some background or understanding of manufacturing processes with related coursework around process improvement or continuous improvement
  • Completed courses on time studies and standard work analysis or experience in this area
  • Completed courses in manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing, production and process planning, facility planning and inventory control, or human factors and ergonomics

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Frequently work near heavy machinery or equipment
  • Demands of a manufacturing environment

Required Education

Required Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university preferred
