Position Overview
Join Walmart/VIZIO and take your career to the next level! We are Vizio, part of Walmart, a leading smart TV platform. Our team develops Bluetooth software and mid-level HAL support for our TV OS platform, owning the Bluetooth stack development and hardware abstraction layer for Vizio TVs. We are building the next-generation OS HAL platform for future TVs. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will oversee the development and implementation of impactful projects, driving innovation and continuous improvement as part of Walmart’s digital transformation.

Salary: $90,000.00 - $180,000.00
Schedule: In office 5 days a week in our Dallas, TX office
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, supervise, and develop TV OS software for next-generation platforms and hardware.
- Oversee the abstraction layer between TV hardware and applications to ensure seamless integration.
- Manage hardware automation testing to guarantee robust and reliable performance.
- Develop and port OS features for smart TVs, including Bluetooth audio and peripherals.
- Lead sustenance engineering efforts for the existing Linux-based OS, focusing on improvements, bug fixes, and new feature development.
Required Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or a related field.
- Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience with C++ (preferably C++11 or above) and Linux/Unix environments.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related area and 1 year of experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in C++11 and familiarity with modern C++ patterns and best practices.
- Expertise in Linux system-level programming, including multithreading, thread-safe programming, interprocess communication, and advanced debugging techniques.
- Experience with audio codecs (e.g., SBC, LC3), ALSA, and PipeWire.
- Bonus: Experience with device driver development, real-time media pipeline, and/or Bluetooth stack development.
- Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences, with knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.
