Job Description

Position Overview

The Enterprise Network Engineer I – (ENE I) is a strategic position providing advanced technical skills and expertise in Network Engineering and the execution of networking operations. The role is responsible for managing and maintaining data and voice networks—including LANs, WANs, and related environments—with a focus on system integration, design, and tier III technical support. It involves a broad range of activities from network provisioning and performance tuning to scripting, product evaluation, and training of technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Planning: Plan and coordinate the future state of church information management networks by designing solutions that align with the organization’s vision, prioritizing projects, service requests, and routine tasks.
  • System Engineering: Analyze current network configurations, evaluate proposed changes, and develop recommendations to enhance performance and efficiency while ensuring minimal disruptions.
  • System Integration: Integrate network components and subsystems, assess network availability, install and configure network components, and lead or support cross-system projects.
  • System Management: Design and implement processes to monitor network performance, apply vendor updates, coordinate vendor support, and provide training to associates and clients.
  • Training & Certification: Maintain in-depth knowledge and current certifications in internetworking technologies, while mentoring other technical staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field or equivalent experience (8 years required).
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Access Networks, including advanced experience with multiple routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, iBGP, OSPF) and LAN redundancy designs (HSRP or CSM).
  • Proficient in LAN protocol management, address management, and network protocols.
  • Experience with technologies such as Aruba/Cisco routers, switches, WLAN, firewalls, IPS, SD-WAN, F5 hardware/software, Wan Optimizers (Silverpeak), and Cisco/Avaya VOIP systems.
  • Knowledge of networking on multiple platforms – Windows, Linux, and VMware – including IP networking, server/host operating systems, email, collaboration tools, and voice/data communications.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a large corporate systems environment with diverse information management systems and technologies.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in network engineering, design, implementation, and support of large-scale LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare systems environment is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more certifications such as Cisco & Aruba Certification or Ekahau/Air Magnet Certification.
