Job Description

Position Overview

Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is recruiting skilled pilots for an exciting law enforcement career as an Air Interdiction Agent. In this role you will perform aviation-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, and interdict illegal activities, all while enjoying excellent pay, exceptional federal benefits, and long-term job stability.

Location: Duty locations are determined by operational needs and may include Southeast Region (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest Region (Tucson, Yuma, San Diego, CA; El Paso, Laredo, McAllen, TX), and NASOC UAS locations (Sierra Vista, AZ; San Angelo, TX).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities to interdict smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels.
  • Monitor behavior patterns and activities of suspects believed to be engaged in illegal activities.
  • Collect, refine, and analyze strategic and tactical intelligence.
  • Support search and rescue as well as humanitarian efforts as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of specialized professional aviation experience performing duties such as serving as Pilot-in-Command, evaluating in-flight information, and coordinating aircraft and ground assets.
  • Qualifications: Possession of a current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with the required ratings (Airplane and/or Helicopter with instrument rating) or an equivalent military rating.
  • Completion of pilot enter on duty minimums – 1500 flight hours (with provisions for waiver) including 250 Pilot-in-Command hours, 75 Instrument hours, and 75 Night hours (subject to current waiver extensions).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with established residency requirements and meet age stipulations for federal law enforcement positions.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete required training courses and travel as needed.

  • Salary: Base pay ranging from $85,270 to $110,846 per year at the GS-11 level, with additional Special Salary Rate (SSR), Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP), Recruitment Incentive, and Retention Incentive available.
