Position Overview
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is initiating a search for an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer for our Fort Worth, Texas office. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Substation Team and join a growing organization that meets clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, in adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Participate in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
- Share responsibility to produce products consistent with POWER’s mission and culture, support departmental goals, maintain high-quality standards, promote teamwork, and meet client needs.
- Learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or as part of a team to complete complex designs.
- Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.
- Perform the detailed design of low to extra high voltage substations, including:
- One-line diagrams
- Schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- Communications
- Station physical layouts
- Sections/Elevations
- Cable and conduit plans and details
- Ground grid design and details
- Foundation plans and details
- Structural plans and details
- Control enclosure design and details
- Lightning protection plans
- Yard lighting plans
- Bills of Materials
- Site visits
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles.
- Experience Required: 0-1 years of experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration with internal team members and external client personnel.
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project specifics.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ months of relevant electrical engineering work experience (including internship or co-op experience).
- Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).
- Familiarity with electrical utility substations and substation design.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate or having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Compensation
Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $78,000 - $83,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that, in good faith, reflects what might be offered based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal equity and geographic considerations. Final compensation may vary and additional benefits or other compensation may be offered depending on circumstances not related to any protected status under applicable law.
