Due to recent expansion, Akkodis is seeking two (2) HIL System Test Engineers (mid and senior level) with strong diagnostic/EOL experience within a HIL environment and moderate to advanced dSpace to join our large dedicated Akkodis team for the next several years while supporting a major vehicle manufacturer in the Detroit Metro area. The ideal candidate will possess greater than 3++ years professional HIL test bench environment experience within the automotive industry at the component and/or system level.

The Hardware in the Loop (HiL) End-of-Line Engineer supports the product development and system integration processes by developing test methods for automated execution, implementing tests using Hardware in the Loop equipment, documenting and reviewing execution reports, reporting incidents, and tracking software updates to fix issues. The HiL Engineer develops expertise in software test design and has advanced knowledge in vehicle functional partitioning, electrical and communication architectures, OEMs embedded software processes, and the Global Product Development System. This role requires close collaboration with feature owners, engineering, and suppliers to develop a strong understanding of the vehicle functions and implement appropriate test design strategies for early identification of defects and to provide evidence of defect elimination.

Starting Pay Range: $95,000 to $105,000/yr (salary commensurate based on experience and education levels).

Your Responsibilities

  • System level test environment design, creation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing activities support, and automation support.
  • Simulink model integration and electromechanical test solutions deployment and maintenance.
  • Debug software, hardware, and communication issues across ECUs and interfaces
  • Implement bug fixes or configuration updates
  • Define regression tests where applicable
  • Reproduce and document bugs
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation while using version control systems
  • Support setup and configuration of HIL setups with multiple ECUs and sensors
  • Work with wiring diagrams, communication networks
  • Configure real-time simulation tools (e.g. Vector CANoe)

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering is required. However, will consider computer science/engineering or mechatronics.
  • 5+ Years of experience in automotive software development or validations with at least 3++ years professional in a HIL test bench environment experience at the component and/or system level.
  • 5+ Years of experience in software development life cycle - CMMI or Agile process experience. 5+ Years of experience utilizing software testing or quality assurance methodologies or ISTQB test methods
  • 2+ Years of experience testing Global diagnostics part -1 or Part -2 specification experience
  • 2+ Years of experience in validation support of dSPACE or NI HIL simulators hardware
  • 2+ Years of experience in dSPACE control and automation desk software.
  • 2+ Years of experience test automation and scripting development
  • 2+ Years of experience in distributed feature testing experience
  • 2+ Years of experience in ADAS/DAT feature testing support
  • 2+ Years of experience using Scaled Agile Framework SAFE implementing agile practices and setting up SW development workflows at an enterprise scale.
  • Functional understanding of ASPICE SW development process and ISO26262 functional safety standard.

Experience Preferred

  • Experience in development and execution of functional test procedures within a software or vehicle testing organization
  • Experience in bench testing of distributed electrical systems (Electrical System Engineering) including bench functional integration, test execution, measuring and instrumentation, incident reporting and root cause analysis
  • Experience in electrical schematics for vehicle components and systems and electrical architectures of distributed systems
  • Experience with development and verification of embedded software using hardware in the loop equipment and software (E.g. dSpace, National Instruments) Experience in test automation collaboration with Germany team
  • Experience in Diagnostics Engineering tools and software downloads. Experience in End-of-Line (EOL) validation support or ECU diagnostics testing
  • Experience in implementing software configuration management
  • Experience in software development with compiled and interpreted languages including C++, Python, Visual Basic and MATLAB and their corresponding integrated development environments (IDEs). E.g. MS Visual Studio, Simulink
  • Experience in Experience in embedded controller networks (CAN, LIN) and the use of ECU diagnostic and network communication tools to verify and troubleshoot distributed vehicle systems (e.g. CANoe, CANalyzer)
