In this role, Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Lead Transmission Line Designer to join the Power Delivery & Renewable team in the USA. You will coordinate the power delivery renewable energy team and perform hands-on Transmission (HVAC/HVDC) engineering, detailed design, and studies for utility and developer clients. You will also interface directly with project management and engineering teams to ensure project execution adheres to all applicable codes, standards, and Arcadis policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, develop, and deliver HV and EHV transmission and distribution line projects from 2kV up to 500kV.
- Independently perform engineering and detailed design drawings, studies, analysis, plan and profile documents, bidding documents, specifications, bills of materials, shop drawing review, procurement, and construction documents with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate with civil, substation, high-voltage electrical, telecommunications, and geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue For Construction design packages.
- Act as Project Manager (as needed) and Technical Design Lead to support project and client services.
- Mentor junior team members and conduct quality assurance/quality control on design work while engaging with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technologist or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience within Transmission and Distribution line projects from 4kV up to 500kV, with the ability to execute transmission line packages under minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD software (experience with PLS-POLE or PLS TOWER is a plus), AutoCAD, and Micro-station.
- Experience in engineering and designing HV and EHV transmission systems, including preparing bills of material, plan and profiles, and construction packages.
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electric Safety Code, IEEE codes and standards, as well as local county, city, and state codes and ordinances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD 3D (strongly preferred).
- Substation experience.
