Position Overview

The Technical Field Advisor (TFA) provides on-site technical direction at customer-owned utility and industrial power plants, ensuring safe maintenance and repair of Steam Turbine Generator Systems. This remote U.S.-based position requires approximately 80% travel and involves reviewing plant engineering documents, troubleshooting systems, and supervising on-site tasks to support GE Vernova’s Steam Power vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, perform, coordinate, and/or monitor Steam Power site activities.
- Perform on-site installation of systems and equipment, and conduct ongoing preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration.
- Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services for troublesome equipment.
- Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding system installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance.
- Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, and preparing job status, time sheet, and expense reports.
- Sign off on all changes implemented.
- Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance checkout for a wide range of equipment vintages.
- Prepare timely and accurate technical reports as references for future outages.
- Ensure that all necessary parts are shipped to the site.
- Execute aftermarket upgrades required at the site level.
- Supervise critical tasks when they are performed by third parties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or a related discipline with a minimum 3.0 GPA; or a High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience in Field Services or power generation equipment maintenance.
- Ability to obtain Unescorted Security Clearance to Nuclear Facilities across NAM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on customer sites.
- Technically oriented, fast learner, and self-starter who requires little direction.
- Solid understanding of Steam Turbine Operation and Controlling Parameters or Steam Boiler Operational Principals.
- Strong technical skills in reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical flow diagrams, dial and laser alignment, and thermal growth equipment.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background and drug screening, and complete specialized training as required.
