Platform Engineer Intern – Entry Level Sales Program 2026

Position Overview

This summer 2026 internship as a Platform Engineer within IBM Client Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to blend technical expertise with people skills. You will collaborate with Architects, AI Engineers, Designers, and Business Technology Leaders to deliver unique co-creation experiences that accelerate client transformation through hybrid cloud and AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Expertise: Leverage hybrid cloud skills—including AI, analytics, DevOps, DevSecOps, IaC, security, networking, and storage—to support diverse client needs.
• Value Communication: Define and communicate the differentiated value of IBM's technology both technically and commercially.
• Technical Leadership: Engage in client sessions featuring public and hybrid cloud technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Paks, and Kubernetes.
• Solution Support: Contribute as a hands-on "builder" in client-facing engagements and advise on solution architecture best practices.
• Transition to Deployment: Collaborate with deployment teams for a seamless transition of production deployment assets and information.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Working knowledge in at least one cloud native programming language (e.g., Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible) and familiarity with cloud technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with an agile mindset.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, complemented by the confidence to engage new customers.
• Self-starter with a growth mindset capable of independent project leadership and effective team collaboration.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% annually and eligibility to work without **visa sponsorship**.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• Experience in deploying and operating solutions on AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud.
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CNCF, AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps).
