Position Overview

The Hospital Legal Compliance Paralegal in Tampa role offers an exciting opportunity for legal professionals specializing in healthcare law, hospital regulations, and corporate compliance. This position is essential in ensuring that hospitals and healthcare organizations adhere to state and federal regulatory requirements, medical licensing laws, and patient care standards. You will work closely with attorneys, compliance officers, and hospital administrators to manage compliance programs and support litigation involving complex healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with hospital compliance audits and risk assessments by conducting internal audits, identifying potential legal risks, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Review and draft healthcare contracts including vendor agreements, physician employment contracts, and insurance policies to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Support litigation and regulatory investigations by preparing legal documents, conducting case research, and coordinating hospital responses to government inquiries.
  • Monitor HIPAA and patient privacy compliance by reviewing policies, investigating data breaches, and implementing best practices for electronic health record protection.
  • Manage regulatory filings and hospital accreditation requirements, including preparing accreditation applications and tracking licensing renewals.
  • Support hospital employee training and compliance programs by developing training materials and hosting workshops on legal and ethical standards.
  • Liaise with government agencies and legal authorities to facilitate compliance audits, inspections, and investigative responses.
  • Conduct legal research and contribute to policy development by drafting compliance manuals and updating risk management policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory law, or risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA, Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Medicare and Medicaid rules, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze compliance programs and monitor evolving regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC, CPHRM, CHPC) are a plus.
  • Experience with legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and compliance tracking software.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting in a compliance-focused role.
