We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our Mechanical Engineering Department and play a pivotal role in our mission to provide excellent client-centric engineering services on a multitude of project types including educational, hospitality, multifamily, mixed-use and high-rise buildings.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Department Lead to oversee and drive the mechanical engineering function within our MEP consulting firm. This role requires an engineer with strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a proven track record managing complex projects in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. The ideal candidate will lead a team of engineers and designers, ensure project delivery excellence, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Mechanical Department, managing staff, workflow, and project assignments to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Oversee mechanical design for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across commercial, hospitality, and high-rise projects.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and career advancement.
  • Collaborate with project managers, principals, and other department leads to ensure coordinated multidisciplinary design and efficient project execution.
  • Drive standardization and optimization initiatives, including development and enforcement of departmental SOPs, QA/QC processes, and BIM/Revit workflows.
  • Represent the firm in client meetings, technical reviews, and design coordination sessions.
  • Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise for proposals and client presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Florida PE license required).
  • Minimum 10–15 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design.
  • Expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, Florida Building Code, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and team management skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
