Position Overview
Reimbursement Analyst (CCS or CPC) at Mount Sinai Health System – Chargemaster/Projects Corporate on 42nd Street. This full‑time, days, hybrid role initiates systems to capture all inpatient and outpatient charges, monitors managed care, commercial and federal contracts, and ensures compliance with fee schedules, Medicare, and other insurance carrier guidelines. Key Responsibilities
- Assure that fee schedules, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD-9) codes are accurately entered in the billing system.
- Identify and define appropriate CPT codes for existing and new services; update fee schedules for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, and managed care carriers.
- Analyze payments for high volume and high dollar procedures, ensuring proper payment and identifying payment denial trends.
- Coordinate initiatives with the billing and collection area to resolve billing disputes.
- Keep abreast of changes in Medicare and Medicaid regulations that impact Practice and Billing Office operations.
- Provide ongoing in‑service training for staff on proper coding guidelines, insurance regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting or a business-related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in insurance billing and collection procedures within a healthcare environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance billing, collection procedures, and CPT/ICD-9 coding.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of multispecialty coding experience in AmSurg and/or clinic settings.
- Proficiency in Epic Billing and a thorough working knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT/HCPCS code assignments.
- Knowledge of the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and facility EMR systems.
- Detailed understanding of hospital versus professional charging and coding practices.
- AHIMA (CCS) or AAPC (CPC) approved credential.
