Job Description

Position Overview

Thompson Coburn, a large full-service law firm with offices in eight cities across the U.S., is seeking a non-exempt Marketing & Business Development Intern for its Chicago, St. Louis, New York, or Washington D.C. office. With over 450 attorneys and expertise in 50 areas of law, the firm is recognized for delivering outstanding client service. This internship provides daily administrative and project support to the marketing team, offering hands-on experience with legal marketing workflows, cross-functional collaboration, and firmwide communication initiatives over approximately 10 weeks at 25–30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Marketing and Business Development leadership with projects, including updating marketing materials and collateral, auditing pitches, and editing written materials as needed.
  • Support the creation of TCConnect articles and social media posts.
  • Identify and consolidate client records in the Client Relationship Management database and merge duplicate records using Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Research and verify client addresses and other related information using online resources.
  • Perform data cleansing on the Client Relationship Management database and firm website to ensure accurate formatting and up-to-date information.
  • Attend meetings with the marketing and business development team as well as with attorneys and practice groups.

Required Qualifications

  • Availability to work 25–30 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks.
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels within the organization and maintain confidentiality with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to balance multiple projects, and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to routine and complex assignments using above-average critical thinking skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program.
  • At least 1 year of post-secondary education.
