Job Description
The Weight and Balance Engineer will monitor, manage and control the aircraft weight and center of gravity evolution with the goal of achieving aircraft target weight. This role requires solid collaboration with the system / structure departments and suppliers in order to grasp the interactions and complete view of the aircraft weight.
What You'll Do
- Overall responsibility for the management of the mass properties data including the associated database
- Support the Chief Engineer in defining and managing weight targets for each section of the Aircraft Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Owner of the Weight Control Plan and responsible for its implementation (on behalf of the Chief Engineer)
- Reporting regularly to Management the Status Weight of the current design and also the Outlook Weight based on identified opportunities to reduce weight and risks that will adversely affect the weight
- Work closely with the Flight Sciences teams providing Mass Distributions for Load Loops, Aeroelastic Modelling and updates on Operating Empty Weight for Performance calculations
- Support Marketing and sales teams with commercial weight updates
- Provide operational mass properties data (Weight and Balance Manual)
- Support definition of the procedure and execution of the Aircraft Weighing
- Support to Flight Test department providing Load Sheets
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- 15 years' industry experience
- Previous experience working in conceptual design and major aircraft or product development programs
Compensation
Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $140,000 to $160,000. We consider a number of factors when presenting a final offer, including geography, internal equity and years of experience and expertise.
