Position Overview
The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) Beacon Community Center at John J. Pershing I.S. 220 in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an Entry Level Part Time Program Assistant. This role supports program operations in a community-focused environment by providing logistical support, translation assistance, and data management. Working with a respected agency committed to community empowerment, you will contribute to delivering quality services and enhancing cultural awareness.
Location: Brooklyn, NY | Schedule: Day shifts with occasional weekends/evenings | Type: Part Time
Key Responsibilities
- Provide logistical support by monitoring materials, supplies, and scheduling for program activities.
- Deliver verbal and written translation support to ensure effective communication with non-English-speaking participants.
- Assist with participant registration and maintain up-to-date paperwork and enrollment/attendance data.
- Help develop and prepare promotional materials and event documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to support continuous program operations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Program Assistant and Beacon Leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of college education.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in data entry, documentation, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex).
- Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin with proven translation abilities.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of diverse community needs.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour; approximately 15 hours per week
- Benefits: Eligible part-time staff receive mandatory benefits including paid New York State sick time
