Software Engineer 2 (Multiple Positions)

Position Overview

Design and develop Costco Travel’s in-house travel booking software applications. Work on the travel portal which allows Costco members to book car rentals, vacation packages, hotels, and cruises. Collaborate on requirement analysis, project planning, scheduling, task estimation, and defining project milestones. Provide software design solutions while enforcing development guidelines and best practices.

Participate in sprint planning activities, execute project tasks, and support deployment activities by working closely with the software testing team. Leverage education and experience to analyze and resolve moderately complex problems. Telecommuting permitted up to 40% within the same MSA.

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday Compensation: $114,000 to $134,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Costco Travel’s in-house travel booking software applications.
  • Work on the travel portal to enable booking of car rentals, vacation packages, hotels, and cruises.
  • Collaborate on requirement analysis, project planning, scheduling, and task estimation to define project milestones.
  • Provide software design solutions while enforcing application development guidelines and best practices.
  • Participate in sprint planning, execute project tasks, and support deployment activities with the testing team.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in designing and developing client/server models and web-based applications using Java EE technologies (J2EE, Servlet, Java Server Pages, and Spring).
  • Experience with database technologies including Java Database Connectivity, relational databases (e.g., MS-SQL Server), and ORM tools like Hibernate.
  • Proficiency in developing RESTful services using Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, or Jersey), unit testing with Junit or JMockit, CI/CD using Jenkins, and troubleshooting via Splunk.
