Job Description

Position Overview

Tamarack Health is seeking a strategic thought partner and advisor for the role of Vice President of Human Resources. This senior people executive will lead enterprise-wide HR strategy and operations across all campuses – including the critical access hospitals in Ashland and Hayward – and a network of primary care and specialty clinics. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of HR will partner with the senior leadership team and the Board to align workforce strategy with organizational priorities, strengthen leadership capability, and ensure effective, compliant people practices throughout a diverse, union and non-union environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities: Develop and lead the enterprise-wide HR strategy and operations across all campuses and services.
  • Responsibilities: Partner with the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board to align workforce strategy with organizational priorities.
  • Responsibilities: Oversee HR functions including Employee Health, Organizational Development, Clinical Education, and Pastoral Care.
  • Responsibilities: Build a consistent, compliant HR infrastructure while fostering open dialogue and continuous development.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Qualifications: Broad HR expertise including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, compliance, and workforce planning.
  • Qualifications: Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Qualifications: Proven ability to work productively in complex environments.
  • Qualifications: Demonstrated analytical ability to evaluate staff, address challenges, and devise strategic solutions.
  • Qualifications: Solid understanding of labor relations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in business or human resources preferred.
  • Experience Required: 10+ years of human resources leadership experience preferred.
  • Qualifications: Healthcare experience is a plus, though candidates from related industries will be considered.
  • Qualifications: Experience advancing workforce pipelines, internal career pathways, and retention strategies.
  • Qualifications: Union experience is an advantage.
