Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) Mid-Career Systems Engineer

Position Overview

Peraton is hiring a Mid Career Systems Engineer with Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) experience to facilitate the government customer's deployment of next-generation solutions as part of a large High Performance Computing (HPC) program. The program covers HPC test planning and execution, architecture design and prototyping, vendor outreach, and collaboration support. This role is tactically important to the national security of the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
• Lead design and development activities by analyzing system requirements, guiding users in formulating requirements, and conducting feasibility studies.
• Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
• Develop technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation.
• Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
• Interact with the Government regarding systems engineering technical considerations and address associated issues.
• Ensure the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables within the Systems Engineering domain.
• Communicate with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives, demonstrating excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED plus 12 years of general systems engineering experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a qualified engineering field or related discipline plus 7 years of systems engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree in a qualified engineering field plus 5 years of systems engineering experience, OR a PhD in a qualified engineering field plus 3 years of systems engineering experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; candidate's most recent security polygraph must have been within the last 5 years.
• Experience with Cloud Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering (especially in AWS).
• Experience with AI/ML system design and implementation, including a high-level understanding of the AI lifecycle (development, training, inference, monitoring), ML pipeline development, model deployment, and DevOps/MLOps.
• Understanding of system security and networking, particularly in the implementation of security on classified systems.
• Understanding of data engineering and data lifecycle management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Amazon SafeMaker.
