Position Overview

Now Brewing – Accounting Manager, Corporate Accounting! Starbucks, renowned for celebrating coffee and connection, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated accounting manager to lead its corporate accounting team of 5 direct reports. This role primarily oversees the compensation and benefits area—including payroll, bonuses, and stock-based compensation—while also participating in corporate treasury, sustainability initiatives, and business development. You will be responsible for managing accounting activities and analysis to support internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and robust internal controls, and serving as a trusted subject-matter expert.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inspirational leadership and communicate vision and strategy for the Corporate Accounting team.
  • Manage complex business transactions and the month-end close process to ensure timely, accurate financial data in compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
  • Act as an accounting subject-matter expert, offering clear guidance and education to business partners.
  • Drive continuous process improvements, identify key risks and opportunities, and strengthen the control environment.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing team members while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience leading an accounting team in a large, multi-national public company.
  • Proven expertise in developing, interpreting, and implementing accounting policies and processes in high-growth environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply US GAAP to complex business transactions and maintain strong internal controls.
  • Bachelor's degree required; strong proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or other ERP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with an ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience and/or CPA certification are preferred.
