Executive Director, Business Development (West Coast - Southern California Territory) • US Remote - Southern California. Key Responsibilities
- Drive Business Growth: Sell the company's capabilities, differentiate Emmes from competitors, and follow up on leads to secure new opportunities.
- Achieve Sales Targets: Meet or exceed annual sales goals for assigned territories and accounts.
- Strategic Client Engagement: Develop and execute a client call cycle and strategic account plans to build long-term partnerships, leveraging a strong network of biotech, pharmaceutical, and government contacts.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate relationships with senior-level stakeholders to expand business opportunities.
- Sales Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular updates on sales activities, market trends, and competitive intelligence to senior management.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations to ensure alignment on capabilities, capacity, and timelines for optimal client delivery.
- Win Strategy Development: Identify and develop tailored strategies to secure individual opportunities and enhance client partnerships.
- Customer Expectation Management: Set and manage customer expectations through a consultative approach ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Bid and Client Meetings: Organize and lead client visits, presentations, and bid defenses to secure business.
- CRM and Pipeline Management: Use CRM tools to document client interactions and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support broader business development goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business field.
- 5+ years of related experience (7+ years preferred) in providing CRO services to biotech, pharma, and/or government market segments, with direct experience in account management at both mid and executive levels.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to potential and current customer as well as corporate locations primarily within the assigned territory.
- Understanding of full-service CRO operations and eClinical solutions (RTSM, EDC, and eCOA).
- Familiarity with services and technology sales cycles and associated strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire, grow, and retain a client base and manage challenging situations.
- Strong working relationships with internal operations, scientific, and business teams.
- Excellent presentation, documentation, and interpersonal/teamwork skills, preferably in the MS Office Suite.
