Position Overview

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our Fraud Strategy & Analytics team is seeking an Analyst II, Fraud Analytics to drive improvements across Trust and Safety online decisioning and user journeys. In this role you will leverage a sharp analytical mindset, strong business intuition, and a collaborative spirit to uncover insights, optimize fraud decisioning strategies and influence product strategy. Compensation: USA base pay ranges from $140,000 - $190,000 (for CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) and $124,000 - $174,000 (all other U.S. states), plus equity rewards, monthly stipends, and comprehensive benefits. Affirm is proud to be remote-first, offering flexibility while sometimes requiring presence at an assigned office for proximal roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively explore data to accelerate product development and optimize fraud decisioning strategies for improved conversion rates.
  • Translate analysis and trends into actionable recommendations to improve identity and fraud conversion or fraud rates.
  • Develop scalable frameworks to manage tiered cutoffs for proprietary fraud machine learning models.
  • Evaluate innovative data sources to solve fraud risk and collaborate with the data engineering team to maintain core data pipelines.
  • Own end-to-end analytics workflows, including defining success metrics, sharing insights, and creating dashboards and reports.
  • Partner with Machine Learning to build fraud and identity verification strategies for new products, markets, and user segments.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to identify high-impact points in the funnel to drive user acquisition and retention.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of work experience in customer risk management at a payments or financial company.
  • Fluency in SQL and Python or R.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence across different teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey findings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Passion for understanding product functionality and driving improvements.
  • Proven strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, statistics, math, economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Understanding of payment processing fundamentals and industry risk trends with experience in risk strategy development.
