Position Overview
Indiana University is seeking a highly skilled and results-oriented brand content leader to position and advance the university’s more than 200‐year tradition of excellence. In this unique leadership role, the Associate Vice President for Brand Content will drive and shape the university’s content ecosystem—from editorial and creative direction to visuals and storytelling—ensuring alignment with IU’s mission and strategic initiatives. Advertised Salary: $190,000 to $225,000, based upon experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the Vice President's senior leadership team, collaborating with leaders in Marketing Strategy, Communications and Public Affairs, Events, and Corporate Sponsorships.
- Act as the key thought leader and strategist for advancing and communicating Indiana University’s brand story in partnership with campus, unit, and school leaders.
- Unify a newly established team under a clear vision for content strategy in alignment with the university’s mission and the UCM strategic plan.
- Provide counsel and lead collaboration with various university schools and departments to ensure cohesive brand content.
- Report directly to the Vice President for Communications and Marketing.
- Advance IU’s state, national, and global reputation through strategic brand content development and execution.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive brand content strategy across channels, rooted in purpose and powered by people.
- Build, manage, and inspire a high-performing team across storytelling, research communications, social media, creative strategy, photography, videography, visuals, and brand education.
- Foster a collaborative culture that values transparency, creativity, and shared success.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure content accurately reflects IU’s values and mission.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to elevate the IU brand through creative storytelling and impactful content.
- Implement operational excellence using modern tools, data, and workflows to streamline content production and distribution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility and leadership in branding, creative strategy, strategic planning, and managing budgets.
- Proven experience directing, managing, and supervising teams.
- Demonstrated track record of creativity and innovation in storytelling and content development.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and strategic thinking abilities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
