SEO / Social Media Marketing Intern

Position Overview

You will work directly with the Senior Vice President of Marketing and the Vice President of Media and IT. This role assists executives in extending the reach of the Velocity Retail Group brand, its subsidiaries, and partners by increasing inbound marketing effectiveness through digital marketing, improved SEO, and social media content marketing. This is a paid position of between 10 and 15 hours per week – after orientation and training, some duties can be achieved by working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Create graphics for postings and post updates
• Perform basic website maintenance and page creation
• Optimize published content and site pages
• Conduct SEO audits using Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools
• Ensure that the site is regularly crawled by Google
• Guarantee proper usage of keywords
• Utilize social media tools to automate tasks
• Produce content for social media
• Create and send marketing emails using Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.

Required Qualifications

• Strong interest in inbound marketing and SEO
• Familiarity with the basics of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
• Enthusiasm for learning more about SEO paired with creative and technical writing skills
• Basic understanding of digital marketing strategies
• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
• Positive can-do personality that makes you enjoyable to work with
• Social media savvy
• Currently enrolled as a college student in a BS/BA program in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
• Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
• Prior experience with blogs and content management systems
• Basic HTML and WordPress experience
• Fundamental to intermediate SEO knowledge
• Proficiency with Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools
