Job Description
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support financial decision-making through accurate cost analysis, inventory reporting, and variance analysis. This role partners closely with operations and finance leadership to improve cost controls, enhance margins, and ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze product and operational costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for margin improvement
- Maintain and update standard cost models, bills of materials, and labor routings
- Perform monthly cost accounting close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze inventory reports, including excess and obsolete inventory reserves
- Partner with operations to review production variances and recommend corrective actions
- Support budgeting and forecasting by providing detailed cost inputs and assumptions
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing cost documentation and support schedules
- Develop and maintain reports that improve visibility into manufacturing and operational costs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or distribution
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
- Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting modules
- Ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Preferred Experience
- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or operational finance
Pay Details
Pay: $30.00 to $45.00 per hour
