Job Description

Position Overview

Assists perioperative nurses and anesthesia care providers with patient care and performs delegated patient care procedures in Surgical Services. This role is essential for preparing procedure rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and available for each case.

Compensation: Hourly rate is determined by years of experience and internal equity, with a minimum rate starting at $17.35 and a maximum rate of $23.15.

Work Schedule: Fulltime, Monday-Friday: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (2nd shift). Please note that training is required on the 1st shift (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) for 10-12 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and turn over procedure rooms between cases, including removal of trash and soiled items.
  • Wipe down equipment and supplies, and prepare the room for the following procedure.
  • Move and set up equipment needed for each case, including stocking and arranging gas machines and the anesthesia area.
  • Assist with patient transfer, positioning, and transport, including helping with "scrubbing in" when necessary.
  • Run specimens to the lab/pathology and pick up units of blood and platelets as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (grandfathered employees from before 1/1/01).
  • BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous healthcare experience.
  • Certification in a related healthcare field.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
