Job Description

Position: Substation Electrical Engineer (Entry-level)

Substation Electrical Engineer (Entry-level)

M&S Engineering, LLC seeks a qualified Substation Electrical Engineer at our Spring Branch, Texas location to perform engineering and design duties which require application of engineering principles and knowledge of substation design.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Detail engineering and design of substation projects from conceptual design through construction from 4kV to 345kV.
  • Create/modify design documents and drawings for a project, including one-lines, three-lines, control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel arrangements, specifications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, and generating bills of material.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with manager, clients, and others as needed.
  • Prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets, and insure that schedules and budgets are met.
  • Take on a project engineer and/or project manager role as required.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering (emphasis in Power is preferred).
  • Current EIT License in the State of Texas or ability to obtain the license within 12 months of hire (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Take personal responsibility and ownership for the quality and accuracy of work product.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD or Microstation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Work independently or in a team environment.
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 30lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
