Job Description

Position Overview

At Lockheed Martin Space, we are redefining the realm of possibilities in space by harnessing innovation and pushing technological boundaries. We are currently seeking an Associate Building Group Lead for our Kings Bay, Georgia site. In this role, you will support the Building Group Lead in daily assignments within a production organization responsible for D5 missile processing, ordnance compliance, support equipment maintenance, and building operations. You will lead a team of skilled mechanics to ensure safe and efficient missile production in an environment where safety and procedural compliance are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expedite the timely resolution of issues that impede production process flow.
  • Supervise and provide technical direction to missile mechanics manufacturing, inspecting, assembling, and testing Trident II D5 missile components.
  • Multitask across job operations, building issues, and last-minute assignment changes.
  • Review operational requirements and command media as needed.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to support processing objectives.
  • Monitor and maintain the ordnance facility daily.
  • Report anomalous conditions to building management, safety, the weapons operation center, and government facility operations groups.
  • Perform monthly area checklists to verify proper building operation.
  • Provide shop floor supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a DOD Secret Clearance (with an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start). No dual citizens.
  • Strong safety mindset with familiarity in generic and ordnance safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, presentation, and written).
  • Ability to obtain an Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives certification.
  • Willingness to work extended hours (weekday and weekends) on a regular basis.
  • Experience in leading teams or projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specific knowledge of the D5 technical program management and FBM manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience in missile processing, including D5 final assembly, inspections, test, and checkout operations.
  • Familiarity with missile processing documentation, including SAP, IMPS, and MAP.
  • Experience with parts ordering using the MAS system.
  • Knowledge of D5 support equipment in preventative and corrective maintenance systems.
  • Demonstrated strong performance skills with an emphasis on accuracy and closure.
  • Experience working in ordnance environments.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers (both company and government) to establish trust and credibility.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience at an FBM field processing site (e.g. SWFLANT, SWFPAC, ER).
  • Above average computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Change Management.
  • Experience in leading teams of hourly (represented) employees.
  • Familiarity with OP5 (NAVSEA document for Ammunition and Explosives) and operations safety practices.
  • Exposure to Root Cause Analysis activities.
