Position: Mechanical Engineer (MEP Building Systems)

HC Solutions Group is partnering with a highly respected MEP consulting engineering firm to identify an MEP Mechanical Engineer for its Boston office. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a firm known for delivering innovative, high-performance building systems across complex and technically demanding environments.

The MEP Mechanical Engineer will support the design and coordination of HVAC and mechanical systems for a diverse portfolio including healthcare, life sciences, commercial, and institutional projects. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong current experience in mechanical engineering within an MEP consulting firm who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment.

The firm provides full-service engineering from conceptual design through construction administration, supporting clients across New England with a strong emphasis on quality, coordination, and long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC and mechanical systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, ventilation, and central plant systems
  • Perform engineering calculations including load analysis, energy modeling, and equipment sizing
  • Develop construction documents including plans, specifications, and technical reports
  • Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection teams for integrated system design
  • Support projects from schematic design through construction administration
  • Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and participate in site visits
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and applicable regulations
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and project stakeholders
  • Contribute to high-performance, energy-efficient, and constructible mechanical system solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong current experience in mechanical engineering within an MEP consulting environment
  • EIT required; PE preferred or actively progressing toward licensure
  • Experience designing HVAC systems for healthcare, life sciences, commercial, or institutional projects preferred
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design tools
  • Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards and applicable building codes
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
