Position Overview: As a mid to experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialization in HVAC design at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute your expertise across our diverse six-sector portfolio, including Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue. You will also support the firm’s expanding refrigeration design needs by delivering innovative solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Performs calculations and designs for basic to advanced engineering systems with a high degree of independence.
- Prepares mechanical system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Conducts research and makes recommendations regarding the feasibility of systems or equipment, evaluating products for their application.
- Assists in developing and maintaining relationships with strategic partners and customers to support business development and pursuit activities.
- Proactively seeks opportunities for continuous learning and mastery of industry software including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.
- Supports and/or manages project coordination activities such as email management, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, and managing client queries.
- Acts as a resource by training or assisting others as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience Required: Mid Level – Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) preferred with 3 years of relevant experience (or 5 years without a degree); Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of experience; intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, and proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).
- Experience Required: Experienced Level – Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field preferred with 7 years of relevant experience (or 9 years without a degree); Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of experience; intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, and proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Completion of the FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
- Advanced knowledge in engineering design with proficiency in A&E industry codes, design guides, and standards applicable to varied project types.
