Position Overview

The Commercial Strategy Manager is a subject matter expert in shaping high-impact commercial and product strategies for Alaska Air Group (AAG). In this role, you will analyze market trends, identify revenue opportunities, conduct in-depth market research, and provide strategic recommendations that drive product initiatives. Location: Seattle - Corporate HQ.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in customers and competitors through analysis, reporting, insights, and assessing the impact of major strategic decisions.
- Apply deep market analysis to identify opportunities and competitor trends that support strategic decision making.
- Influence cross-functional teams to drive revenue optimization activities including pricing, product, and service offerings.
- Utilize advanced analytics and data modeling to analyze large datasets, extract insights, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Build relationships with internal teams such as finance, marketing, e-commerce, network, and revenue management to ensure cohesive strategic approaches.
- Identify and explore innovative opportunities for revenue generation and cost optimization.
- Effectively communicate complex analyses and strategic recommendations to stakeholders with regular reports on key performance metrics and market trends.
- Create business cases and decision analyses outlining key assumptions, financial projections, and potential risks.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in business analytics, consumer insights, competitive intelligence, strategy, economics, or a related area.
- Bachelor's degree or an additional 2 years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and experience with a programming language such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18 and must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in presenting and storytelling data-driven strategic insights, including experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Proven track record of applying insights to business strategy.
- Strong understanding of revenue products, product merchandising, and optimization strategies.
- Ability to establish cross-functional and collaborative relationships with other teams.
- Experience in the airline industry.
- Strong understanding of strategy development and drawing insights from competitor moves.
