Job Description

Position Overview

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. The MICU specializes in the care of medical intensive care patients. Nurses care for patients with a wide variety of infectious disease, GI, cardiac, and respiratory conditions who require ventilator support and invasive pressure monitoring. This position consists of three 12-hour shifts a week with weekend and holiday requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments.
  • Assesses the healthcare needs of individuals or groups and formulates, implements, and evaluates care plans.
  • Demonstrates decision-making by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
  • Coordinates patient care and directs assistive personnel to deliver safe, effective, efficient, equitable, and timely, patient-centered care.
  • Recognizes environmental forces affecting the healthcare of patients and their families.
  • Identifies resources necessary to implement the plan of care.
  • Collaborates with health professionals to determine healthcare needs of patients and families.
  • Builds relationships with patients and families that communicate trust and respect.
  • Communicates effectively in the exchange of information.
  • Acts as a patient advocate.
  • Maintains annual mandatory education requirements, including emergency skills and unit-based competencies.
  • Identifies personal growth opportunities in collaboration with the unit-based educator or clinical nurse specialist.
  • Participates in professional development and may engage in quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates commitment to patients, staff, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with responsibility for individual nursing practice and patient safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (required).
  • 1-3 years of related work experience (required).
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (required).
  • American Heart Association – Basic Life Support Certificate (required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (strongly preferred).

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: $38.00 - $98.19 hourly base rate. The pay range listed is the base hourly wage the organization reasonably expects to pay at this time. Actual compensation may exceed this range based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, work location, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other applicable factors.
