Senior Telecommunications Engineer

Position Overview

Our client, a leading telecommunications company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Telecommunications Engineer for their operations in Virginia Beach, Virginia, US. This role is integral to designing, implementing, and managing complex telecommunications networks and systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain robust telecommunications networks including fiber optic, wireless, and cellular systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Develop and implement network upgrades and enhancements to support emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate telecommunication systems with existing IT infrastructure.
• Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and recommend improvements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation including schematics, configurations, and procedures.
• Evaluate and recommend new telecommunications equipment and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee third-party installations and maintenance.
• Participate in on-call rotation for network support and incident response.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in telecommunications technology and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in telecommunications engineering and network management.
• In-depth knowledge of telecommunications protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VoIP, SIP, MPLS) and relevant hardware.
• Experience with fiber optics, wireless technologies (e.g., 5G, LTE), and network management systems.
• Proven ability to design and manage complex telecommunication infrastructures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Project management skills and experience are a plus.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, vendor-specific certifications) are highly desirable.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally for site visits and project requirements.
