Position Overview

Zelin & Associates, CPA LLC is an established CPA firm in midtown Manhattan servicing individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits primarily in the New York, New Jersey, and CT area since 1980. Our team of highly knowledgeable and friendly professionals is dedicated to earning our role as trusted advisers.

The Entry Level Tax and Audit Accountant is responsible for achieving and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction by providing accounting, audit, and tax services to our customers. This role requires working with multiple clients simultaneously while ensuring excellence and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete projects in compliance with professional standards, within budget, and on the agreed timeline.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Coordinate team workload for engagements, assist team members as needed, and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Review and prepare business and personal income tax returns and projections including: Individual Tax (Form 1040), Partnership Tax (Form 1065), S Corporation Tax (Form 1120 S), C Corporation Tax (Form 1120), Exempt Orgs (Form 990, 990-PF), and Fiduciary Tax Returns (Form 1041).
  • Assist with audits, reviews, and compilations; review and prepare financial statements.
  • Manage and perform business advisory services.
  • Participate in internal and external training opportunities.
  • Recognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients and participate in new client proposals.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business (Accounting preferred).
  • Prior familiarity with auditing concepts (nonprofit industry preferred).
  • Tax preparation familiarity.
  • Knowledge of Lacerte tax software is preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, QuickBooks Desktop, and QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong analytical skills paired with good presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to work long hours to get the job done.
