Position Overview

Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The role is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, provided you reside within 50 miles of our facility in Raleigh, NC. Location: Raleigh, NC; Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote). Relocation benefits are available within the United States. Our division designs, manufactures, and services Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, batteries, and electronic-based products to ensure power reliability in demanding applications. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the mechanical design and development of product lines and mentor junior staff.
  • Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet Eaton’s safety, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and create mechanical systems addressing space, manufacturing, service, thermal, and other design considerations.
  • Provide technical guidance by reviewing designs and offering feedback to team members.
  • Work with global product development teams to resolve issues related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality, and component availability.
  • Develop and support engineering and validation prototypes and assist manufacturing personnel during product launch.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of design principles for sheet metal, plastics, and other manufacturing methods.
  • Engage in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
  • Collaborate closely with regulatory experts to ensure designs comply with UL and other certification requirements.
  • Identify and drive improvements for processes, tools, and testing methodologies from concept to implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design OR a Master’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in mechanical design.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Eaton will not consider applicants requiring CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, or any other form of employment immigration sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in developing large-scale power electronics from concept to manufacturing launch.
  • Expertise in power distribution system design and protection.
  • Experience with multi-kW lithium ion energy storage systems, including battery management and products designed for outdoor or non-climate controlled environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques.
  • Experience with thermal and structural simulations.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal design, BoM creation, and interpretation of electrical diagrams.

  • Salary: $93,750 - $137,500 per year
