Job Description
Position Overview
The Scheduler for Invasive Services provides active coordination of the department schedule for maximum effectiveness and efficient use of services. Provides schedule access to Physicians for their convenience and preference based on available times or on a first come first serve basis. Calls Physicians the day before cases are scheduled to verify the preferred sequence. Completes charges for Anesthesia, audits records for correct nursing data completion, and assists with developing processes for conversion to computer systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the department schedule for maximum efficiency.
- Provide schedule access to Physicians based on convenience or first come first serve.
- Call Physicians the day before cases to verify their sequence preference.
- Complete charges for Anesthesia and audit records for accurate nursing data.
- Assist with developing processes for system conversion.
Required Qualifications
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
- Sound judgment in problem solving.
- Basic knowledge of services, procedures, and equipment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at the level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
- Familiarity with physical anatomy and anatomical body parts (preferred).
- Knowledge of clinical procedures, patient records, and clinical documentation (preferred).
- Understanding of human anatomy, procedure length, and average case duration to ensure optimal scheduling for all physicians.
- One year of experience in registration or scheduling.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
