Position Overview
Urban Outfitters is seeking a strategic, data-driven, and collaborative SEO Manager to lead and execute our organic search strategy. This role is pivotal in driving digital revenue by connecting our customers with the products and content they love. As part of the eCommerce Optimization Team, the SEO Manager will oversee the implementation of SEO best practices across our digital ecosystem, ensuring discoverability, scalability, and alignment with brand voice and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute on-page SEO initiatives including metadata, internal linking, structured data, and content tagging.
- Partner with the URBN SEO team to implement technical SEO recommendations and platform enhancements.
- Optimize product, category, and editorial content to improve visibility and drive qualified traffic.
- Collaborate with copywriters, merchandisers, and content teams to ensure SEO best practices are embedded in all content.
- Identify keyword gaps and content opportunities to support seasonal campaigns, product launches, and evergreen growth.
- Provide recommendations on taxonomy, navigation, and faceted search to enhance crawlability and user experience.
- Analyze and report on weekly, monthly, and quarterly SEO performance and KPI data to drive natural search sessions and brand exposure.
- Translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations, including competitive analysis and keyword research.
- Leverage enterprise SEO platforms (e.g., Conductor, SEMRush, Google Search Console) to manage workflows, dashboards, and reporting.
- Ensure platform insights are translated into prioritized, actionable tasks while staying current on algorithm updates and industry trends.
- Act as the primary SEO point of contact across Urban Outfitters’ digital teams and coordinate tasks with UX, development, merchandising, and creative teams.
- Educate internal stakeholders on SEO principles and advocate for SEO-friendly practices across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on SEO experience, preferably in an eCommerce or retail environment.
- Experience managing SEO execution for large-scale product catalogs.
- Background in content operations, merchandising, or digital production.
- SEO or digital marketing certifications (e.g., Google, HubSpot) preferred.
- Proficiency with SEO tools and platforms (e.g., Conductor, BrightEdge, SEMrush, Ahrefs).
- Familiarity with eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento).
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Positive, professional, and timely communication with teams, supporting departments, vendors, and suppliers.
- Ability to clearly and confidently express ideas and boundaries in a respectful manner.
- Strong time management skills to proactively deliver team priorities and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented approach to producing high-quality and accurate work.
