Job Description
Position Overview
Stanford Health Care is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Data Science team focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence and machine learning innovations into healthcare. Reporting to the Data Science Director and working closely with Stanford Medicine’s inaugural Chief Data Scientist, you will design, develop, and deploy predictive algorithms and AI solutions to enhance patient care, medical research, and administrative services. This role is based at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, deploy and maintain AI and ML enabled care workflows by designing and developing solutions in collaboration with your team.
- Evaluate tools, platforms, and strategies for managing the lifecycle of building models from healthcare data.
- Train, develop, and validate machine learning algorithms on hospital data while ensuring robust quality control and bias assessments.
Required Qualifications
- PhD/MS degree in statistics, informatics, or a related field (MS candidates should have 4+ years of related experience; PhD experience is preferred).
- Proficiency in writing code in SQL, R, or Python for processing large datasets in distributed cloud environments.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, evaluating, and implementing machine learning models.
- Experience collaborating with clinicians and researchers across disciplines to develop effective clinical solutions.
- Solid understanding of cloud environments, software development practices, machine learning techniques, and statistical analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities and creativity in problem solving.
