Job Description
Position Overview
David Mason + Associates’ Structural Team specializes in the design and analysis of building structures, framing, and foundations in accordance with IBC/ASCE requirements. As a growing branch with strong relationships in the Philadelphia/tri‐state region, our team delivers top quality designs for prestigious projects including the new Veterinarian School at Rowan University, Barracks Hotel at the Navy Yard, Kelly Hall at Drexel University, new Life Sciences buildings at the Bellwether District, and Barrett Recreation Center. We are seeking a Licensed Project Engineer with previous building design experience to support our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the production of construction drawings, specifications, design calculations, and technical reports.
- Prepare the engineer's opinion of probable construction cost.
- Manage project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Oversee permit applications for applicable municipal agencies.
- Delegate and supervise project design tasks to technicians, designers, and staff engineers.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplined design teams, owners, and contractors to resolve clarifications, conflicts, and changes during construction.
- Conduct site investigations and inspections during and after construction as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals for engineering services.
- Monitor project budgets, billing, and A/R, while assisting with financial oversight.
- Mentor and train technicians, designers, and staff engineers.
- Participate in business development activities as needed.
- Estimate materials, equipment, and labor required to determine project costs.
- Monitor project progress ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Sign/seal drawings or other required documentation in accordance with division and firm policies.
- Adhere to DMA employee and safety manuals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of related engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in structural design.
- Must hold a Professional Engineering license in the state of Philadelphia.
Preferred Qualifications
- SE License in the state of Illinois is a bonus.
