Job Description

Position Overview

As a Sales Representative for Matco Tools in Indianapolis, IN, you will drive sales and build brand loyalty by engaging with administrators, instructors, and students at key technical education and commercial accounts. In this role, you will deliver presentations, close sales, manage on-site merchandising, and execute localized sales promotions while maintaining the professional appearance of Matco Tools showrooms. You will also work closely with the Business Development Manager and senior leadership to implement sales and marketing strategies.

Compensation: The base salary range is $55,000-$58,000 per annum with an eligible sales/commission plan offering an additional $15K-$35K potential, leading to a possible total compensation of $94,000 or more based on several factors including experience, skills, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire and develop sales revenue at assigned technical education and commercial accounts.
  • Establish customer engagement and build brand loyalty with administrators, instructors, and students at key accounts in the Indianapolis area.
  • Conduct one-on-one and classroom presentations, provide information, close sales, and offer exceptional customer service.
  • Manage on-site merchandising, product displays, and ensure the professional appearance of Matco Tools kiosks.
  • Schedule regular contacts with staff and students through on-site kiosks and classroom settings.
  • Coordinate localized sales promotions and motorsports events to boost product exposure and achieve sales targets.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience using or selling tools is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to produce quotes, close sales, and enter orders using current systems.
  • Proven responsibility for managing customer credit card transactions, cash, and ensuring transactional accuracy.
  • Effective and timely personal follow-up on all RFQs.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide on-site accessibility on a mutually agreeable schedule.
  • Experience with consignment and budget product management for displays, promotions, and special events.
  • Commitment to maintaining a 5S-workplace environment in both Matco Tools kiosks and customer events.
  • Ability to participate effectively in the development and execution of short- and long-term sales and marketing strategies.
