Position Overview

As a Field Service Mechanic A, you will serve as a master technician and assume a leadership role in product knowledge and quality standards. In this role you will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair heavy equipment, and build positive relationships with customers while working independently on local jobsites.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a consistent schedule for performing preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet at long term customer job sites.
- Oversee and conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services.
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems to ensure proper operation.
- Recondition and replace assorted parts to restore equipment to a safely functioning state.
- Educate customers on proper equipment use to help avoid future breakdowns.
- Analyze problem areas for significant wear or tear and address issues until the next scheduled visit.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area at each job site.
- Produce timely, detailed service reports and repair logs while following company procedures and protocols.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable/stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps, and assorted tools.
- Understanding of detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
- Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete repairs and services.
- Ability to be on call to support operational needs.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Proven ability to operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
- Timely follow-up with customers and the ability to handle assorted tools safely.
- Capability to safely lift up to 50 LBs with attention to detail.
- Strong customer service skills and effective interpersonal communication.
- Flexibility to adapt to dynamic needs on active jobsites.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills with basic computer proficiency for work order management.
- Good time management skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the company.
