Position Overview

Arcadis, the world's leading company in sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions, is seeking a highly motivated Principal System Planning and Studies Engineer to join the Power Delivery & Renewable team. In this senior technical role, you will drive key project management and technical assignments, coordinate with various engineering teams, and contribute to comprehensive power system planning for utility and developer clients in North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow the System Planning & Studies team, ensuring efficient resource planning and quality reviews on large and complex projects.
  • Perform and coordinate power systems analysis, including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, and interconnection studies.
  • Lead the continuous development of power system planning processes, methodologies, and innovative tools.
  • Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager, Account Manager, and Technical Lead to support client success and business growth.
  • Mentor junior team members by conducting quality assurance/control and engaging in client, contractor, and vendor meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Power Delivery & Renewables Leader to drive account growth, resource planning, and overall project performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Power System Planning and Studies, with exposure to major North American market operators (MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, ERCOT, CAISO, SPP).
  • Proven expertise in planning, feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis for utility and developer clients.
  • Proficiency with PSCAD and the PSS®E software package; familiarity with TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools is an asset.
  • PE License certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Power Systems (Strongly Preferred).
  • Experience with HVDC systems.
