Job Description
Position Overview
The Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, based in Lenexa, KS (Kansas City Metro), leads the Facilities, Equipment, and Engineering groups. This role is responsible for ensuring asset reliability and driving continuous improvement through TPM methodology, managing design specifications, rebuilds, installations, and capital improvement projects. The position demands adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage capital improvement projects including creating design specifications, bid collection, and final project acceptance while developing engineering/construction standards.
- Lead the preventative maintenance system for all manufacturing equipment and ensure compliance with scheduled activities.
- Analyze department work activities and develop or modify standard operating procedures (SOP) to align with QSR and ISO9000:2000 standards.
- Oversee maintenance and repairs for the physical plant, grounds, and related building systems across owned and leased facilities.
- Partner with and support equipment and facility supervisors in hiring, training, and leading employees.
- Maintain currency with all policies and guidelines and implement them fairly and consistently.
- Demonstrate a participative management style in problem-solving, project implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop timelines and schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and keep the Site Leader/Director of Operations informed of progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (preferably electrical, mechanical, or industrial).
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device industries is a plus.
- Proven maintenance experience with capital projects and facility renovation.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, work at a desk for extended periods, and occasionally use a ladder for roof access.
- Familiarity with computer or PLC-based machine control systems and CAD experience.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related technical skills.
