Aunautic Technologies is hiring a Network Engineer to support the U.S. Navy’s enterprise transport network in Suffolk, VA.
This role requires technical expertise in operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mission-critical networks to ensure 24/7/365 availability. The position is day shift (7 AM – 3 PM) with weekend rotation and on-call responsibilities. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Description
The Network Engineer will provide Tier 2 operational support for Navy enterprise network infrastructure. This includes rapid identification and resolution of outages, proactive performance monitoring, configuration management, and ongoing system sustainment. The engineer will also participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery verification, and the evaluation of new technologies to enhance Fleet readiness.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 network engineering support, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of outages.
- Monitor network infrastructure and optimize performance across multiple exchange points.
- Perform daily maintenance, upgrades, configuration corrections, and patch management.
- Operate and maintain privileged access solutions, incident management, and change management processes.
- Verify and maintain failover and disaster recovery procedures.
- Support network capacity planning, testing, and performance evaluations.
- Contribute to the design and integration of new network technologies for mission enhancement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field and 2+ years of experience in network engineering (or equivalent military/technical experience).
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), ACLs, Layer 2 switching, Spanning Tree, packet analysis, and Spine-Leaf architecture.
- Hands-on experience with VLANs, VRFs, IPSEC tunnels, and troubleshooting routing issues.
- Working knowledge of SD-WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices.
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ required).
- U.S. Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance.
- Ability to work shift schedule (7 AM – 3 PM), cover rotating on-call duties, and travel up to 25% as required.
Desired Skills
- CCNA or CCNP certification.
- Experience with Arista switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Gigamon/NetScout, and network visibility solutions.
- Familiarity with TACACS+ on Cisco ISE.
- Strong communication and documentation skills to support Navy customers and technical teams.
- Prior experience in U.S. Navy operational IT environments.
Salary
$65,000 - $95,000 per year
