Job Description

Position Overview

As an Electromechanical Technician, you will play a critical role supporting design engineering and manufacturing operations across the full product development lifecycle. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams, you will fabricate, assemble, integrate, test, and validate advanced electro-mechanical systems and components. This role is well-suited for a highly skilled, hands-on technician who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrates strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and enjoys working across multiple phases of product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct hands-on support to Design Engineering throughout the full product development lifecycle.
  • Fabricate, assemble, integrate, test, and verify electro-mechanical systems, subassemblies, and components.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, 3D models, schematics, sketches, samples, and verbal instructions.
  • Build parts, assemblies, shop aids, fixtures, and templates using a variety of materials.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain manufacturing and fabrication equipment including shearing, sawing, routing, punching, drilling, forming, rolling, grinding, and related processes.
  • Independently select appropriate tools, equipment, and materials required to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Perform manual and CNC machining, welding, and precision fabrication as required.
  • Assemble and inspect components to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Operate forklifts, jib cranes, hoists, and other material-handling equipment safely.
  • Operate existing product-line vehicles and experimental systems both on-site and at field locations.
  • Assist engineering teams with design reviews, providing feedback on manufacturability, tooling, assembly processes, and test equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis related to mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Travel as required to support off-site testing and field operations.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety standards, ensuring the prevention of personal injury and the safety of others.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with manual and CNC machining.
  • Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical assembly, integration, and inspection.
  • AWS welding certification or equivalent welding experience.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, models, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Technical expertise in fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of welding and machining processes.
  • Experience in an R&D, engineering support, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Associate’s degree or technical diploma plus 4+ years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma plus 8+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting engineering drawing reviews and design documentation.
  • Familiarity with assembly test equipment, tooling, and validation processes.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to support field activities and testing environments.
