Position Overview
Optum NV is seeking a Medical Director, Hospice and Palliative to join our team in Las Vegas, NV. As part of the Optum Care Delivery team, you will help improve healthcare through innovative practice ideas and initiatives. In this leadership role with Southwest Medical Associates (SMA)—Nevada’s largest multi-specialty practice—you will manage our hospice and palliative team while also providing direct patient care in diverse settings. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the hospice and palliative team of providers, including schedule management and clinical deployment strategies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support both clinical and business priorities.
- Provide clinical care by seeing hospice patients across varied settings, lead interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings, and support training for nurses and social workers.
- Promote the SMA hospice and palliative programs to community and employed physicians, working closely with primary care and specialty clinicians to deliver holistic patient care.
- Manage a team that includes physicians and advanced practice clinicians, and participate in leadership meetings.
- Adhere to a Monday through Friday schedule (8 am to 5 pm) with shared call coverage every third week.
Required Qualifications
- Board Certified, MD or DO
- Active, unrestricted state license in NV or ability to obtain prior to employment
- 3+ years of clinical practice experience in a hospice and palliative environment
- Experience in a leadership or administrative role with strong management and strategic thinking skills

- Salary Range: $269,500 to $425,500 annually (based on full-time employment, defined as total cash compensation at target with variable pay based on experience and performance metrics)
