Entry Level Java Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Under general direction, design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and implement software code using Java, JavaScript, HTML, SQL, and XML for web application components.
• Collaborate with graphic designers and project team members to develop the site concept, interface design, and overall website architecture with a focus on interface implementation.
• Integrate web applications with backend databases, deploy large web-based transaction systems using application servers, and coordinate the integration of new products per production and client requirements.
• Exhibit strong navigation and site-design instincts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Associate’s, or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Creative problem-solving abilities and a strong work ethic with a “can do” attitude.
• Ability to take high-level requirements and compile them into development tasks.
• Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while managing multiple deadlines.
• Must possess a SECRET clearance or have the ability to obtain one; at least an interim SECRET clearance is required to begin work.
• Must be CompTIA Security+ certified.
• Must obtain a related certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Associate) within the first 90 days of employment.
• Must be enrolled in the CompTIA Continuing Education program.

Preferred Qualifications

• 0+ years of software development experience in developing Java web applications (school experience considered).
• Familiarity with Java design patterns (MVC, DAO, Singleton, Factory, etc.).
• Experience supporting JVMs in Unix/Linux/Windows environments.
• Experience with frameworks such as SpringMVC, JasperReports, and Hibernate.
• Understanding of SOA, including SOAP/WSDL and RESTful services.
• Experience using IDEs like Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, or NetBeans.
• Experience with shell scripting, log file parsing, and analyzing logs using REGEXP.
• Oracle Certified Associate Java 1.8 or Oracle Certified Professional Java 1.8.
• Ability to estimate tasks based on technical debt, effort, and complexity.
• Experience with RDBMS such as Oracle, SQLServer, or similar databases.
• Familiarity with software development processes such as SDLC, Scrum, or similar methodologies.
• Experience with JEE/JSP containers such as WebLogic, JBoss, or Tomcat (or similar servers).
• Experience using version control tools such as Subversion.
