Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Research Nurse to join the Pediatrics Department at UTHealth Houston. In this role, you will be an essential member of a multidisciplinary team, providing input on studies, traveling to investigator meetings, and taking the lead in research focused on bleeding and clotting disorders. You will engage in all aspects of clinical research – from direct patient care and sample processing to research budgeting and contracting – and collaborate with various stakeholders to change the world of healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, and consent participants while educating them on research objectives, benefits, and potential risks.
  • Direct the work of support staff, technicians, and coordinators to ensure timely, high-quality results and adherence to research protocols.
  • Coordinate and maintain contacts with participants, physicians, and pharmaceutical companies to secure ongoing study support.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory documentation to the IRB and other agencies, managing day-to-day clinical study enrollment.
  • Collect, log, and verify research data; interpret results; and contribute to reports, presentations, publications, and grant proposals.
  • Identify issues and trends in research protocols, recommending procedural changes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in clinical research.
  • Registered Nurse licensure (State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure) is required.
  • Advanced nursing knowledge with a strong background in Good Clinical Practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in data management, analytical thinking, and critical problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as an Association Clinical Research Professional – Certified Professional (ACRP-CP) is preferred.
