  • High level/technical ability in Controls, Robotics & PLC (life sciences or industrial industry preferred)

FULL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Automation Engineer helps design, build, and deliver world-changing laboratory automation systems. In the role, you will assemble automation workcells, deliver custom engineering projects, conduct instrumentation and Green Button Go driver testing, and develop evolving technologies across collaborative and mobile robotics, and vision and control solutions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Provide design input for both software and hardware on integrated platforms
  • Manage the design, build, and deployment of automation platforms
  • Review Statements of Works
  • Ensure safety and accurate performance of our systems
  • Work with software, applications, and PMO to deliver custom solutions that align with customer specifications and GBG capabilities
  • Create, define, and document new integration solutions
  • Work directly with customers to understand specifications, work through challenges, and deliver highly technical automation platforms
  • Participate in risk assessments and understand regulatory standards to be able to deliver CE marked solutions.
  • Design, build, and test custom control solutions for safety, I/O, imaging, and lighting control.
  • Setup, network, and automate laboratory equipment, using GBG and instrument drivers.

The selected candidate will also possess:

Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Pharma/Life Sciences industry and using laboratory instruments from Beckman, Tecan, Agilent, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience working with hand tools (drills, saws, wrenches, etc)
  • 5+ years of experience in robotics (SCARA or 6 DOF robot arms)
  • 5+ years of experience working through an engineering project (from initial requirements setting, design, procurement, build, testing, and delivery)
  • Familiarity with sensors (LiDAR, cameras, encoders), motion control, and system-level debugging
  • Experience in controls and PLC design and implementation

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Robotics

Training, Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  • Software/programming skills, especially with C#, preferred
  • Experience with PLC circuit design and programming
  • Ability to write professional technical reports and procedures
  • Must be task focused and have a results-oriented attitude and approach to the job responsibilities
  • Experience with risk analysis and CE certification
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to debug complex, cross-disciplinary issues in live environments.
  • Communication: Clear, effective communicator who can collaborate with customers, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.

Salary Range: $112-118k/year
